Most can. Text-heavy documents compress dramatically. Very long scanned documents — say 100+ pages of high-resolution photographs — may not reach 100KB while staying readable. In that case we return the smallest usable version and tell you the target was missed, so you can split the document instead.

We always try the gentlest setting first and only escalate if the file is still too large. For typical business documents at 100KB, text stays perfectly sharp because it remains real vector text — only embedded images are downsampled.

Yes. The interface is fully responsive and the engine runs on iOS and Android. Bear in mind that mobile devices have less memory, so very large files (over roughly 50 MB) may be slow or fail on older phones.

Less Compression favours quality with images near 200 DPI. Recommended is the balanced default at roughly 144 DPI. Extreme maximises size reduction at about 96 DPI. Target Size ignores presets entirely and searches for the best quality that fits your specified limit.

Progress tracks pages completed, not time elapsed, and pages differ enormously in cost. A page holding one large photograph takes far longer than ten pages of plain text, so the bar appears to stall. It is still working — the Web Worker keeps the interface responsive throughout.

Not while it is encrypted. A protected PDF has its content streams encrypted, so the compressor cannot read the images it needs to optimize. Remove the password in your PDF reader first, compress, then re-apply protection to the smaller output if you still need it.

Yes. Drop in as many files as you like and they are queued automatically. Processing is deliberately sequential rather than parallel: compressing several large PDFs simultaneously would compete for memory and can crash the browser tab, so each file is handled in turn.

No. Compression runs entirely inside your browser using WebAssembly. Your PDF is read into local memory, processed on your own CPU and written straight back to your downloads folder. No network request ever carries the file.
